GETT on board

gened_at_dut_150Members of the GETT (General Education Task Team) at their logistics meeting on 26 August showed interest in adding a virtual classroom to supplement face-to-face lectures in some of the new modules. The virtual classroom would provide students with online access to prescribed readings, video clips and review quizzes, with 24/7 access. Also, discussion forums and blogs could be plugged into the online classrooms, providing another route for student-to-student and student-to-lecturer interaction.

OER at DUT

OER-LogoDUT e-learning practitioners can make a significant contribution to student centred education through the creation and distribution of Open Educational Resources (OER). The university has already pinned its colours to the wall by signing to the Berlin Declaration on Open Access in May 2013. The DUT institutional repository is a leading South African example of sharing research information with the society it serves. By sharing our teaching and learning content and assessment materials we can join a wider community committed to making educational resources freely available to learners and educators.

Welcome

Welcome to E-Learning Professor. E-learning at schools, colleges and universities opens up abundant opportunities for innovative learning. The online digital environment lends itself to student-centred learning that genuinely engages the learner, develops self-reliance and is an archway to the knowledge society. I’ll be posting notable e-learning issues, debates, views and links on this blog, and invite you to comment and share your own ideas. The blog also has a discussion forum – so you can post directly to the forum and start your own discussion thread.
